Lighting and staging interview tips
Shot/interview tips:
- thirds, shifting your object into rule of thirds on the lines or intercepting points
- rules were made to be broken
- 180degree rule
- birds eye view
- the line between the two object in scene
- camera in the circle around using 180 degree on either side
- but NOT both
- having both people in the shot or seeing both figures (including the shoulder if the other person isnt there) the way they are looking
- lighting
- reverent lighting
- harsh light
- bright
- straight onto face
- diffusion cloth/plastic
- can use Chinese white lantern
- cheap
- mise en scene
- nose space
- leaving more space in front of the persons nose
- head room
- dont need head space
- if you need to cut off someone's head it fine
- BUT NOT the chin
- shoulders up
- background is important.
- one third of the way up
- black background
- says more about the words the person is saying.
- 3/4 lights
- key light
- brightest light
- to the left and high
- throw shade on the face
- adds drama
- take out all the light sources you cant control
- fill light
- add light to the shadow where the key light left
- hair light/back light
- lights up the back of the subject
- helps separate from the background
- background light
- helps draw out more separation from the background
- almost a halo effect
- eye light
- twinkle into a person eye
- make them look alive
